Activities:
  • Relaxing. Many people like to spend quiet days reading and relaxing. The house is a great place to do nothing at all.
  • Fishing. The fishing is world-class. We can help you arrange to be picked up on the beach right by the house by local fishing captains. These folks have their own boats and equipment, you don’t have to bring anything. In a few minutes you’ll be fishing some of the best waters in the world. Close to shore the catch is red snapper, sea bass, yellowtail tuna, dorado (mahi-mahi), roosterfish and wahoo.  Further out you get billfish (blue marlin, black marlin, striped marlin, sailfish),  much larger tuna, dorado and wahoo.
  • The Beach. The white-sand beach at Las Tinas is one of the most beautiful in all of Baja. It’s great for swimming, playing with kids, digging in the sand, exploring, beachcombing, collecting driftwood and seashells. A short walk to the north are some rock outcroppings with tidepools that are fun to explore. In the evening you can build a driftwood fire on the beach and have a cookout while the sky turns pink and the stars come out.
  • Snorkling. There is good snorkling right off the beach, with numerous tropical fish. The beach at Punta Pescadero is also good for snorkling. About an hour away is Cabo Pulmo, a protected marine park with a living coral reef. Cabo Pulmo has a dive shop, a small hotel and a couple of restaurants.
  • Dolphins and Whales. Dolphins are a common sight and a lot of fun to watch. Whales are also common. We can arrange a boat for you to go see them close up. Whales in the Sea of Cortez include Blue whales (the world’s largest animal), Pilot whales and the occasional Grey. (The famous Grey whale calving grounds are over on the Pacific side.)
